Hello and welcome,
I’m an Aussie writer passionate about children’s books and getting children to read. I was born in Manly and raised on the Central Coast, NSW. The beach was a big part of my childhood and so was a cheeky sense of humour.
I went on to become a Primary School teacher, teaching in both special needs and mainstream schools. I then became Non-book coordinator at Scholastic Australia (Yes!! My job description included testing toys). I worked my way up to Wombat/Busy Bee Book Club Editor and then Classroom Essentials Manager. Through this I had the opportunity to select books and educational products (from a variety of publishers and suppliers), I created a number of products including booklets, desk mats, black-line masters and posters, completed layout and blurbs for the brochures, and analysed and forecasted sales.
I'm currently at home with my two beautiful boys (aged five and three) and a brand new fur baby called Ruby. My second son was born with a Port Wine Stain (PWS) birthmark. This was a blessing in disguise and has inspired my writing. I love to include characters that are a bit different.
I'm a member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writer’s and Illustrators and the Hunter Writer’s Centre. I attended the 2016 CYA Conference. My manuscript ‘Bunyip in the Bathtub’ was shortlisted in 2016 Writer’s Unleashed Competition.
